On June 12, 1962, the Venezuelan Government issued a decree establishing Canaima National Park, whose surface area- originally covering 1 million hectares-, incresed to 3 million on October 10, 1975.

Canaima National Park is the vast region full of mythical reminescences, black water fivers, stormy skies, impenetrable jundgles, the infinite stillness of the undulating savannahs contrasts with the tepuys in their imposing walls, over which cascades plunge from prodigious heights.
The territory included in Canaima National Park is characterized by having some of the oldest rocks in Venezuela and in south america. mor than 1,5 billion years old.

Angel Fall -- the world´s highest waterfall one of the most popular sightseeings in Venezuela which you can find in Canaima National Parque, Bolivar State. The Angel Fall is spilling into a canyon on the flank of Auyantepuy. Its water drops 979 meters (3,212ft) from the top of the tepuy to the jundgle below, of which around 800 meters (2,600 ft) is free-fall -- making Salto Angel, as it is known in spanish, some 15 times higher than Niagara.

The falls were only discovered in 1936 by the legendary bush pilot Jimmy Angel.

In Canaima National Park you find a little village with the same name Canaima
based in front of Canaima Lagoon where there is an airport and some touristic camps.

Price includes: roundtrip airfare from Ciudad Bolivar o Puerto Ordaz, overflight of Angel Fall excursions, assistance in the airport, local tranfers, lunch, soft drinks and guides, accommodation in the Camps in hammocks.

Day 1: Arrival in Canaima via airport. Our guíde will greet at the airport. After lunch an afternoon guided tour of the Ara-meru Falls for a swim and walk through natural jade formations. The hike next takes you to Sapito Falls for a visit were you will walk to Sapo Falls for a view from behind the water. The hike then continues to Hacha Falls via a two hour hike through the jungle.

Return to Camp at the Anatoly Island for dinner, showers and total relax.

Day 2: Depending on conditions, depart by boat for Angel Falls. Arrive at Isla Raton (Island right in front of Angel Falls) for overnight camping sleeping in hammocks. One hour jungle hike to Angel Falls. Return to camp by noon for lunch. Dinner is served at Raton Island followed by the history of Canaima National Park.

Day 3: Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to check for the flight to Puerto Ordaz or Ciudad Bolivar.

Many travelers would say this camp is situated in one of the best areas of Canaima. This Camp is the tourist “rustic” economic camp not located in Canaima proper but on an island Anatoliy accross of the lagoon. The camp is nothing more than a thatched hut with eating tables and a half-dozen hammocks strung at one end. There are no rooms walls, or closets. You throw your bags on the ground, grab a hammock, and you're home.

There are flush toilets, however, and a couple of showers. Showers, that is, in the most primitive sense. There is a spigot which leads to a pipe at about head level. No shower head, no hot water. At night the camp fires up a generator which provides electricity.

But this is also a tropical paradise. There is an amazon parrot playing in the beams of the camp hut. The waterfalls are a constant background noise, and the beach really does have pink sand. The foliage is lush and green.
